Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's story is a mix of football scholarships for his parents and a commitment to the community. The first line of his family was that Selmon is the eldest of nine kids raised by Eufala by Lucious Selmon. The Selmons were also among the three brothers who played for Oklahoma on the field of football. Three of them made All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy received the Outland & Lombardi Awards for being the most effective lineman in the US. In three years, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy being the starting player. The team also took home 2 national titles. The third scholarship was awarded to him. He was as a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon holds a bachelor's degree in educational studies. Lee Roy's fourth volunteer service consisted of ten hours a week in volunteer work during the college. After graduation, he moved in Tampa and played nine seasons for Tampa's Buccaneers. He made the All-Pro 3 times. Then he started his career. The year 1988 was the first time he worked as an Account Relations Officer in the First Florida Bank in Tampa. He worked for Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute and the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. This is why the Junior Chamber of Commerce designated Lee Roy as among the 10 most notable young men in the country. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in the height department and weighed 256 lbs as a college player he captained the 1975 team. In 1993, he became the athletic director's assistant at the University of South Florida. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1993 by his fellow members of the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994, as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented the Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor that made the award.
