Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been a Greek American columnist, author and businesswoman for more than 20 years. She has written fifteen books. She is also the co-founder of The Huffington Post. Arianna Huffington works as an author, philanthropist, television host and the owner of The Huffington Post. Her move to Greece to England when she was 16 years old, and obtained a MA at Cambridge University in Economics. The well-known debating club The Cambridge Union was her first presidency and she did it when she was 21. After the graduation ceremony, she became a well-known Conservative syndicated journalist. After a few years later she created The Huffington Post which featured critical commentary on the current political scene. Her fame and popularity helped by attracting a variety of high-profile contributors to publish their thoughts on politics news and culture. Arianna gained fame after she decided to run as an Independent candidate for the California Recall election to succeed the Governor Davis. In addition, she was also the leader of an initiative in Detroit campaign to encourage fuel-efficient cars. In 2009 she was named by Forbes as the most influential women in media gaining 12th place on the list and in the same year the Guardian named her to the top 100 of media lists. In 2011, AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post and made her president of that media unit, which comprised of many at the time-current AOL products, such as Engadget AOL music Style list and Patch Media. She was the daughter of journalist and manager Konstantinos along with his partner Elli Stasinopoulos. Although she had a close connection to both of her parents and father, it was their relationship which shaped her. Even as a young girl, she showed leadership traits which she is still renowned for. When she was in her 16th year she returned to the UK for a degree and attended Girton College Cambridge. In her college years she was a member of Cambridge Union. Cambridge Union debating group where she was elected the first woman and the only foreign president. She graduated in 1972 with a Master's Degree in Economics. The career of an anchor and reporter began after she graduated. Alongside Bernard Levin she appeared on an episode of Face the music.
