Anita Saarkessian
Anita Sarkeesian (Canadian-American) is an activist in the field of feminist media in addition to a public speaking Canadian. Feminist Frequency is a site with video and blogs on the representation of women in popular media and popular. Anita Sarkeesian has been a blogger, journalist as well as an award-winning feminist for nearly 10 years. Feminist Frequency an online platform designed to provide education on female roles in popular culture, is directed by Sarkeesian. Determined to challenge the assumptions that are associated with females in popular culture, she is also working in highlighting issues relating to targeted harassment against women and other marginalized classes of online environment. Sarkeesian holds a Masters in the field of political and social thought from York University. The determined lady had planned to launch a web series on gender representation in video games. However, she found herself at the center of a harassment online campaign. The harassment, however, did not dissuade her. The experience only strengthened her journalistic skills as a feminist. Her numerous contributions to the field of feminists has been acknowledged by many prizes. Anita Sarkeesian is an award nominated media critic as well as the director of Feminist Frequency an educational organization focused on the representations of women within pop culture and the narratives that surround them.
